Recovery is about more than healing an injury. It is about restoring confidence, rebuilding strength and allowing horses the time and environment they need to simply be horses again.

The Recovery Village has been purpose-built around one simple philosophy: horses recover best when they feel safe, relaxed, socially connected and cared for.

Conveniently located directly beside our stable complex and the McKenzie Park Sody Centre, The Recovery Village ensures every patient is only a short walk from our rehabilitation and treatment hub. Whether attending the water treadmill, cold mineral spa, solarium or other scheduled therapies, horses can move safely and quietly between their accommodation and treatments with minimal stress and disruption to their daily routine.

Fully fenced by Duncan Equine through Saltarin Lodge Equine Fencing, the village features eight secure rehabilitation yards of varying sizes, each fitted with Geohex footing, automatic waterers and lined shelters to provide comfort, security and practicality throughout every stage of recovery.

The shelters are carefully positioned to give every horse its own personal space while maintaining the feeling of living within a herd. Horses can see, communicate and interact with one another naturally without direct contact, reducing stress while keeping every patient safe.

Fresh air and sunshine are an essential part of recovery. Our outdoor day yards allow horses to enjoy the daily rhythm of farm life, watch other horses, wildlife and people, and remain mentally stimulated in a calm environment.

For horses needing a little extra reassurance, one of our resident support ponies or horses can become their neighbour. Our much-loved senior citizens also call The Recovery Village home, providing quiet companionship and helping nervous horses settle through safe interaction across the fencing.

For patients requiring box rest or overnight accommodation, six spacious 4m × 4m indoor stables provide a quiet and carefully monitored environment. Adjacent purpose-built safety yards, constructed by Scotty Barclay, are used for veterinary care, farrier visits and routine treatments.

To provide every horse with the peaceful environment they deserve, The Recovery Village is a private area and is not accessible to the public. This allows each horse to recover without unnecessary disruption while respecting the privacy of every client.

As part of our commitment to horse health and wellbeing, all hay is fed using slow-feeder bins, encouraging natural grazing behaviour, supporting digestive health and helping keep horses content throughout the day.

Whether recovering from surgery, injury, illness or simply needing time to rest and recharge, every horse is treated as an individual.
